UL 498 test method of UI plug insertion and pull out force:

Instruments: 3-pound and 15 pound lifting tools, timers

Steps and judgment:

1. Six samples were tested.

2. The clamping force of the plug is within 3-15lb, which must meet the following test.

3. Use UL plug to insert and pull out 10 times on each outlet, then insert the plug into outlet completely, and apply 3lb force towards the plane perpendicular to the surface of socket and the direction that can pull the plug out of outlet, lasting for 1 minute. The plug must not have any displacement. If there is any displacement, the experiment will be considered as failure.

4. If the plug can be pulled out from the socket immediately, it is OK.

5. Then repeat the above 3lb test. If the plug has displacement, the experiment will be considered as failure. If ok, it will be connected to hang 15lb. If the plug can be pulled out from the socket immediately, it is OK.
